EURO 2024 is fast approaching – and Phil Brown expects the Three Lions will go all the way and win it.

Gareth Southgate’s charges are once again taking the hopes and dreams of the nation with them to Germany, with the tournament getting underway on June 14th.

England’s campaign gets underway a couple of days later against Serbia, clashes against Denmark and Slovenia to follow later in the month.

Does the Aggborough gaffer have many views on their chances of success?

We asked, and he quipped: “I did have, until I started managing this football club and I got sidetracked!

“I think England have got a great chance. We always go into tournaments positive and I’m not different to any other England supporter.

“I’ve watched Gareth Southgate manage, and the way he manages the media, I’ve taken great admiration from that.

“I’ve managed on the touchline against him, you’re talking about the man who is managing England, and he was managing Middlesborough when I was managing Hull City in the Premier League.

“He actually got relegated that season and we survived. Did that make me a better manager than him? No, it doesn’t! Far from it.

“It actually just shows where you can go if you stay in your own beliefs and thought process of where you want to get to.”

Southgate has gone closer to taking England to the glories of old than any other manager in the modern age.

He has Brown’s backing to take that one step further this summer.

Our chief went on to say: “The most important part of the England job is how you handle the media and the people, and the perception of England has changed under Gareth’s tenure.

“I think we’re going into games with probably the best chance – and we’ve probably said this for the last 30 years – but the best chance.

“We are now producing young, up and coming talent in the world of football, not just in England, that can grace any pitch on the planet.

“I think we’ve got a great chance of winning it this year.

“When we get to the Final, I think we’ll see the best of Gareth Southgate, the best of Steve Holland, who has done a great job under Gareth, and the best of England.”
