HARRIERS picked up a 1-0 win courtesy of a sharp and organised pre-season display at AFC Telford on Wednesday night.
There was a sight of goal early for each side; Joe Foulkes getting forward for Harriers and shooting with an angled effort that goalkeeper Hall snatched well. At the other end, Matty Stenson snatched at a close-range shot that was blocked on the line.
Midway through the first half, though, Harriers were ahead when a dangerous corner delivery from Maz Kouhyar was headed home by Foulkes.
As the half wore on Paul Downing saw an angled effort head off target and, before the interval, Foulkes almost had a second when his far post, downward header was saved smartly by Hall.
Just as at the start of the first period, there was a brace of chances at the end of the 45, the Bucks denied by a smart Dibble as he tipped over a distance effort, and Zak Brown kept out by a covering block after Hall was beaten by his angled drive.
Early after the restart, Ashley Hemmings was twice close to adding to his summer tally but, with one effort, slightly overran the ball and with the other, missed by a whisker in connecting with Kouhyar’s cross.
A good breakaway not long after the hour should’ve brought the Bucks level but, with arguably too much time to think, the home forward spurned his effort, angling it over the bar.
Harriers almost punished them when Kouhyar blazed over from Jack Lambert’s pass, Hemmings then close once more with a curling effort that Hall held.
With the game in its final stages, Maliq Cadogan took aim at Hall but couldn’t keep down an effort that rose high of goal.
Up next for Harriers is Saturday’s home clash against Newport County, kick off 2pm at Aggborough. Get your tickets now.
