PHIL Brown has confirmed the appointment of Amari Morgan-Smith as Captain for the 2024-25 season.
The striker has over 200 harriers appearances to his name across three spells over the course of the last decade and is a firm favourite with fans.
He’ll now lead the boys into the new campaign, starting with Saturday’s trip to Darlington in National League North.
Explaining the decision, Brown said: “The character of the team this year needs to be one that can go into battle, and whether that be a physical battle, a technical one or a tactical one, so be it.
“Amari is experienced at this level. I relied on him heavily last year even when Shane Byrne was Captain, just for information, and he was so forthcoming.
“He was going through the mill when I arrived with off-the-field activities and has had a nightmare this summer, which he’s got through, and that shows the character of the individual.
“That’s the kind of character I want to be associated with where Kidderminster Harriers is concerned.
“I must have spoken to or ‘interviewed’, if you like, six or seven candidates, that’s how strong our changing room is, and Amari, with his personality, will show what we are all about.”
Morgan-Smith added of the news: “I can’t thank the gaffer and the management staff enough for this opportunity to Captain of the football club.
“Everyone knows how much the club means to me, it is a great honour.
“We have added great experience to our young group and have a tight-knit group of talented players that are striving for one thing, and that’s to bounce straight back.
“We’ve had a great pre-season and can’t wait to get started at Darlington.”
Congratulations, Morgs!
