Monday: Harriers v Oxford City

A look to Monday’s visit of Oxford City to Aggborough…

PHIL Brown doesn’t want doom and gloom after Saturday’s defeat Warrington – but does want a reaction when his side face Oxford City on Monday.

A 1-0 set-back on the road at the weekend handed Harriers a first defeat of the season, but there isn’t long to wait until the boys have the opportunity to get themselves back in the saddle.

Speaking on Saturday and with an eye on Monday’s visit to DY10 of a City side beaten at home to South Shields last time out, Brown said:  “I don’t want it to be all doom and gloom because it’s our first defeat.

“We need to take lessons from it, regardless of whether we’re playing at Aggborough or away from home; some teams won’t allow you to play, some teams will be on top of you.”

Brown hinted at possible changes to his squad following the Warrington defeat, saying:  “I think there will be one or two knocking at my door saying: ‘it’s my time.’

“Reiss McNally springs to mind, Reece Devine springs to mind, the lads who’ve been on the bench will be knocking at my door, as they are already.

“It’s not doom and gloom, as I say. I am down, I don’t like getting beat.

“If there’s a reason for it or if there’s an excuse, I’d rather have a reason any day of the week.

“We’ve got a one-day turnaround, then we’re back in on Monday, Bank Holiday and hopefully Aggborough will be bouncing again and we can get back to winning ways.”

Kick off at Aggborough on Bank Holiday Monday is at 3:00pm.
