A look ahead to Saturday’s National League North clash with Buxton

PHIL Brown says he knows exactly what to expect on Saturday: a difficult day at the office against Buxton in National League North.
Two relatively in-form sides meet at Aggborough, with Harriers keen to back up a three-match stretch that’s seen them pick up a treble of clean sheets and two victories.
Conversely, Buxton come into the tie with three wins on the bounce; including a 7-1 smashing of Needham Market.
Harriers travelled to Buxton in the FA Cup back in September and were held to a 1-1 draw, the replay earning the Reds a 2-0 victory that started a four-game losing streak for the Bucks.
They’ve since put that slump to bed, having also downed Chester 1-0 and, in midweek, won 2-0 at Radcliffe.
Brown is therefore under no illusions that anything will be gained easily on Saturday – asked what he expects from Buxton, added: “A tough game. The Manager played his cards in the away performance in the first part of the Cup game.
“He showed what he is capable of at home on a surface that’s synthetic, then they came to Aggborough and they played a different style, [and] I’m expecting the same; they’re going to be in our face and ask us serious questions.
“They’re playing with a different system now, are they going to stay with that system? I’m not bothered. What I’m bothered about is what our team does.
“Our team needs to turn up in the way we’ve turned up in the last three games.”
Brown is sure that playing at Aggborough will ask as an added incentive to teams, adding: “Regardless of what we think of the Marine game, I witnessed Marine Directors, supporters and players, celebrating like they’d won the league after they got a point at Aggborough.
“That’s what we’ve got to understand – that’s what we are, that’s the target on our back, and we’ve got to make sure we stand up against that and then bring our A-Game to the party in the final party.
“That’s what’s going to happen on Saturday, for sure. They’re going to be in our face, they’re going to try and upset us, and try and play a style of football that won’t be conducive to the home supporters applauding them.
“If that’s the case then we’ve got to make sure that, when we’ve got the ball, we’ve got to hurt them, we’ve got to play the kind of football we know we can play, and we’ve got players in the right area of the pitch that can do that kind of thing.”
Harriers will be without the suspended Joe Foulkes for Saturday’s game after his accumulation of five league yellow cards for the term.
Luke Summerfield (leg), Paul Downing (calf), Alex Penny (back) and Ben Beresford (hamstring) all remain out, but Brown did add that Downing and Beresford have now returned to the training field, the latter even in contention to feature in some degree at Curzon Ashton next week should his current progress continue.
Striker Harry Ibbitson’s loan with the club officially ended on Thursday with the striker now returning to parent club Bradford City. All at the club thank Harry for his contributions and wish him well for the future.
Kick off at Aggborough against Buxton on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
