HARRIERS’ 2025 began with defeat at Aggborough as Rushall Olympic left Worcestershire with a 1-0 success.

Harriers had the first chance of the day, and a sizable one, on eight minutes when Amari Morgan-Smith broke free of the Rushall back line to get one-on-one with goalkeeper Paul White, only to see his slow shot clip the stopper’s foot, then the base of the post.

In terms of serious goalmouth action, that was as much as the first half featured up until the 38th minute when Tope Obadeyi showed good strength to hold off his man and meet a corner delivery with a header that crashed wide.

Danny King found the gloves of Christian Dibble early after the restart with a low shot before, six after the hour, Zak Brown saw a flick header, six yards out, glance just past the far post.

Reece Devine crossed well on 72 for Morgan-Smith to head into the hands of White, Rushall taking their lead on 74 minutes when he was able to advance the ball on the edge of the area, shooting low and into the bottom corner.

Sub Maz Kouhyar saw a shot blocked into White’s path soon after, before having arguably the closest Harriers chance of the half by a mile with just seven left to play, a deft flick with his boot sending the ball a whisker past the foot of the far post.
