HARRIERS make a first ever trip to South Shields as the final ten games of the National League North season begin on Saturday.
The Reds visit the 1st Cloud Arena on what is the longest journey of the league season, the team looking to extend a recent unbeaten run to five games.
A testing few days on the road began on Tuesday night when the boys were held to a tough 1-1 draw at Leamington, and it will be no less challenging at the weekend against a Shields side harbouring outside play-off ambitions of their own.
Though in 13th at present, they could be within eight points of the top seven should they win their game in hand. With so much still to play for across the division, anything is still very much possible.
Saturday’s hosts also have form in their favour, too. They’ve won four of their last six matches in National League North – including victories in the last two. They’ve also tasted victory in their last two home matches, Needham Market and Alfreton Town seen off respectively.
In the return fixture earlier this season, Harriers were 4-0 winners at Aggborough thanks to goals from Amari Morgan-Smith, Tope Obadeyi, Joe Foulkes and Ashley Hemmings.
Foulkes, says boss Phil Brown, is very close to being involved in the action once again for Harriers. Having missed significant time due to injury, Foulkes has been back in full training and the boss says he is giving consideration to involving him at South Shields on Saturday.
There has also been good news on Alex Penny who has resumed some further fitness work, while Ben Beresford this week returned to the training field and is edging closer to his own potential comeback.
Brown discusses each of these players and their status, along with the weekend’s game and more in his latest pre-match interview which you can view by pressing play below.
Kick off at South Shields on Saturday is at 3:00pm
