ZAK BROWN'S late header netted Harriers all three points as the Reds got back to winning ways at Bradford (Park Avenue).

Russ Penn's charges secured the 1-0 success by the barest of margins, but that won't matter too much in the end to the 80 or so fans in attendance, who celebrated wildly the team's second successive away win at the start of this new season.

It hadn't by any means been a classic. Neither side created a serious chance of note all afternoon prior to the breakthrough, and Brown's header was the only visiting attempt on target at the Horsfall Stadium.

It was a cagey affair in challenging conditions which neither team truly got to grips with - Nathan Lowe did have the first sight of goal of the day on 18 minutes, picking up the ball from Joe Foulkes and aiming it at Sykes-Kenworthy between the sticks, the effort going over.

By that point Harriers had already lost Yusifu Ceesay to a knee injury in the early stages, to compound the frustration of Tom Owen-Evans missing out altogether due a knock picked up in the defeat to Curzon Ashton.

Two minutes after the restart, the alert Palmer made his only save of the day as he held on to a shot from Brooks, a free kick sailing over the bar as the half drifted on fairly aimlessly for both  outfits.

Bradford's Luca Havern was presented with a big opening with seven minutes left of normal time but planted a header over from a good position. That had looked like being the final big moment as the board went up signalling four added minutes, but the visitors had other ideas.

Gabby Rogers, on as a sub, did just as he did against Curzon Ashton and supplied some deadly ammunition, a beauty of a cross in the fourth of those minutes finding a looping, backward header from Zak Brown that left the  goalkeeper with no chance, and Avenue no time to do anything about it.
