A GOAL in each half helped Harriers to a comfortable 2-0 win over Peterborough Sports at Aggborough Stadium.
Harriers were always the team on the front foot, chasing down everything from the off. Chances early on were few and far between, though, a Nathan Lowe free kick sailing over before Keziah Martin saw a couple of shots blocked before the 15-minute mark.
The home side did take the lead as that pressure eventually told. Freemantle summed up the industry of the first period, charging at a loose ball and giving visiting goalkeeper Crook a fright, challenging firmly for the ball and coming out as the winner, his thumping lunge for the ball catching it and sending it sailing into the net for the second of the season.
That came just after the half-hour and, six minutes later, Hemmings went close with a shot that whizzed past the post from 12 yards.
Just after the restart there was a half chance for Harriers as Freemantle crossed for Caleb Richards whose stooped header curled towards and then past the far post, and on 54 minutes it was 2-0. Martin excellent on the ball throughout and was instrumental in teeing up Nathan Lowe, whose low, angled drive arrowed into the bottom corner.
Two past the hour Zak Brown was through on goal, on the angle. He opted to shoot early and had Crook extending himself to stop the angled drive with a good save.
In the later stages of the half, Hemmings saw a free-kick tipped over the bar while a key chance saw Lowe smash over after Harriers had got themselves into a good position and sub Rogers crossed Lowe.
There was a first appearance of the season off the bench for Amari Morgan-Smith among the later substitutions, the striker nodding a header over with six left to play.
