HARRIERS endured an unhappy trip to Brackley Town on Bank Holiday Monday, going down 2-0 to Kevin Wilkin’s side.

The Saints netted a goal in each half to record their win, and it was a victory that in all honesty they achieved without too much fuss.

Harriers were far from at their best and failed to seriously trouble Danny Lewis between the sticks – perhaps always on the back-foot once Wes York had put them in front. A defensive slip allowed the hosts to work the ball into the area and, half cleared, the ball fell to York who was able to turn it over Tom Palmer and into his net.

Three before the half-hour, a deep cross into the area found the boot of Caleb Richards as he worked a shot towards goal. It lacked real venom, and Lewis between the sticks was able to gather it.

The home side had two big openings to make it 2-0 before the break when Gareth Dean planted an unmarked header into the side netting – Tom Palmer then producing a fine save to thwart Callum Stead who’d raced through on goal.

Harriers made a treble change in the second period with Foulkes, Freemantle and Hemmings all heading into the fray but it was not enough to seriously damage the hosts, who went two goals ahead seven after the hour when Jimmy Armson planted a firm header past Palmer from close range.

Jordan Richards headed wide of the target from a Saints free kick with 76 on the clock, but a game of ultimately few changes came to a fairly quiet end.
