Key Moments

HARRIERS’ run in the Isuzu FA Trophy ended with a 3-2 defeat at Dorking Wanderers on Saturday.

An expansive game was end-to-end from the very off, the hosts netting early on before Zak Brown’s outrageous equaliser.

Dorking netted twice more to ultimately kill the tie before Amari Morgan-Smith’s finish in the fourth minute of added time reduced the arrears.

Dorking now go through to Monday’s draw for the last 16 of the competition while Harriers fight on in the National League North.

It was the National League side who drew first blood – Ottaway able to finish from close range after Harriers were unable to clear the ball with just four minutes gone.

Brown’s equaliser came eight minutes later. He took aim with a free kick delivery that Byrne rolled into his path and, from 30 yards plus, found the top corner with a dipping effort that sealed his fourth of the campaign in real style.

Though Harriers then had a brace of chances through Bearne to take the lead, it was Dorking who took a commanding lead to the break.

With 18 played, Seager turned and finished smartly in the box to make it 2-1, before the hosts clattered the upright with a rising drive. The third goal the arrived with more indecision at the back, Seager the beneficiary once again as he tapped home after a low cross picked him out.

Despite the deficit, Harriers never looked dead and buried – Ashley Hemmings, Joe McGlynn, Tom Owen-Evans and Ethan Freemantle all had chances before the interval, the latter going closest with a shot pulled just wide.

Three after the restart, Bowerman came close to getting a fourth Dorking goal but Palmer’s fingertip save kept him at bay, Seager snatching wide in search of his hat-trick goal.

Owen-Evans struck the woodwork via the keeper at the other end three after the hour as Harriers continued to attack, Freemantle forcing Lincoln into another save before Morgan-Smith did similar.

Deep, deep into added time, Hall’s pass set Morgan-Smith away through on goal. The striker kept his composure and finished past the goalkeeper to make it 3-2, but there was no time for anything further.
