HARRIERS grabbed their second away win in the space of a few days thanks to a 2-1 triumph at Peterborough Sports on Saturday.

Ashley Hemmings scored twice on our first visit to The Bee Arena to help close the gap on the play-offs.

A goalless first half wasn’t blessed with a plethora of chances, but there was one apiece dotted at each end of the period. With just two minutes on the clock, the hosts had the ball in the box from Dione Semie-Ferris that Krystian Pearce blocked, the defender staying put to ensure Josh McCammon couldn’t force home the follow-up.

Ashley Hemmings saw a free kick sail wide in what ended up as a precursor for what would follow, and Amari Morgan-Smith had a header saved comfortably, the best Harriers chance of the period falling to Kai Lissimore who headed wide from a Joe McGlynn cross.

McGlynn supplied Lissimore again three minutes after the restart with another low shot being saved by Peter Crook in goal, but there would be nothing Crook could do about the opening goal on 50 minutes. He was left grasping as Hemmings’ free kick from more than 20 yards found the back of the Sports net.

McGlynn went for goal himself on the hour after excellent work on the by-line, but crashed his effort into the side netting.

Three minutes later it was 2-0 – McGlynn again involved as he turned in the area after a blocked Morgan-Smith shot only to be fouled to the award of a penalty. Hemmings did the honours of stepping up and making it 2-0.

With nine minutes left of normal time the hosts pulled a goal back, Sembie-Ferris’ incisive pass finding Sano Sani who thundered the ball past Tom Palmer.

Peterborough pushed for an equaliser but another goal looked more likely at the other end in the final minutes; Penny firing agonisingly over after a superb run took him half the length of the pitch, Ethan Freemantle then firing an effort into the chest of Crook.
