HARRIERS secured a point and clean sheet with an impressive showing at Darlington that included everything but a goal.

The Reds, while not in ideal form going into the clash, were arguably the better team against the play-off chasing Quakers, and managed to keep quiet the deadliest scoring record in the division.

The hosts did have their chances – Jacob Hazel had a shot held after a couple of minutes, before Amari Morgan-Smith and Joe Foulkes forced saves out of Tommy Taylor with efforts.

Tom Palmer’s best save at the other end came on 25 minutes as he tipped a Jack Lambert shot over the bar, Foulkes then going close again with 32 played as, on the angle, he pulled a shot over the bar at the far post with Taylor to beat.

Hemmings had a shot comfortably held before the break, but only Taylor’s expert reactions kept Harriers at bay just a couple into the second period as Kyle Morrison got a head to Shane Byrne’s cross, the goalbound effort hitting the keeper’s thigh and heading away from danger.

A lively Jack Bearne came close on the hour after good work by Foulkes and Caleb Richards – the youngster’s attempted volley lacking a little in power and ultimately being gathered by Taylor.

Hazel was again thwarted by Palmer past the hour before Kai Lissimore’s superb run almost ended in the opening goal, only for a late deflection to take it away from the target.

The Darlington marksman spun inside the area and saw a low shot smothered by Palmer, the final chance on a day in which defences came out
