A look back at Tuesday night’s encounter

Harrier stormed to their second 4-0 home league win of the season by seeing off South Shields at Aggborough.

All told, it was arguably the most one-sided Aggborough action of the season as Harriers dominated from first whistle to last.

The hosts netted four goals of the night and had a fifth disallowed, as well as numerous other opportunities to extend their lead.

After Ashley Hemmings and Davd Davis had taken aim with the first chances of the night, the first goal arrived with half an hour played, Amari Morgan-Smith showing great industry to intercept a ball back to the goalkeeper, showing great reactions to nick it after it was spilled, eventfully slotting it into the net.

Two goals in the space of three minutes then really cemented and drove home the position. First, on 37, Ashley Hemmings dinked in a low cross that Tope Obadeyi stretched to meet and glance past goalkeeper Boney to find the net. Then, with 40 on the clock Obadeyi supplied Hemmings on the counter who saw a shot spilled back into the former Hereford man’s path, his next ball pounced on at the second attempt by Joe Foulkes who finished smartly.

The fourth goal came on the hour. A clearance by McNally looped up in the air before being taken down superbly by Morgan-Smith who turned and sprayed out a pass into the path of Hemmings. He then drew Boney and found the net for his seventh goal of the campaign.

A smart corner move seven minutes later almost brought about a third when Kandola saw his effort hooked off the line, before a smart double save from Boney seconds later denied by Thompson’s fierce drive and Obadeyi’s follow-up in the space of seconds.

In the final quarter hour, Devine slammed off target and hit the bar as Harriers continued to press for further goals. From the latter, Ben Beresford finished superbly into the bottom corner only for the effort to be chalked off for an earlier foul.

Arguably the only South Shields chance of the entire night then flew well over the bar before, at the other end, Kobe Hall’s drive from distance in added time was the final Reds chance of the evening.
