New Assistant Manager appointed

Paul Wotton names his number two…

MIKE Edwards has been named the new Assistant Manager at Aggborough as he reunites with boss Paul Wotton.

A vastly experienced defender, Mike played over 630 times during his EFL career – with more than 200 of those coming for Hull City, before an even longer stint at Notts County.

He played against Harriers at Aggborough for both of those sides and counts Grimsby and Carlisle among his other clubs – a transition into coaching followed at Truro City where he was part of Wotton’s staff that secured promotion back to National League South.

The duo paired up again for two seasons at Torquay United, taking the Gulls to within goal difference of the title in 2025, the side then well placed in the play-offs at the time of their exit in March of this year.

“I’m really pleased,” said Wotton of Edwards.

“I’ve worked with him at both my previous clubs; he’s played over 600 Football League games; he’s a fantastic coach and is amazing at the fitness and nutrition side as well.

“Ultimately, he’s a good guy as well, the lads will love him. I’m thrilled I’m working with him again.”

Wotton has been meeting with existing club staff this week as well as holding discussion with players – he knows the togetherness of the backroom staff will be as big a strength as the playing squad this term.

He went on: “Billy, our analyst, Dan, S&C, Ellie the physio and obviously working Kev and Dean as well, the staff [are] going to have to be tight-knit and be together, which any successful team has to be.

“We’re a team within a team – I’ve met them all and they all seem very good people with good work ethic and I’m looking forward to getting going.”

Welcome to Aggborough, Mike!
