Harriers progressed to the next round of the FA Youth cup with a 3-0 Preliminary Round victory over Alvechurch at Aggborough on Thursday night.
The deadlock was broken after just eleven minutes. Harriers right back Liam Timms crossed expertly to Harry Stratford who was able to plant his header into the bottom corner.
The young reds enjoyed large spells of possession during the first half and created numerous chances – deservedly ahead at the break.
The away side went down to ten men after 58 minutes as Dylan Hall was shown a straight red.
After a long spell of pressure following Alvechurch’s reduction to ten men, Harriers got their reward after 72 minutes thanks to Tom Smith. The winger raced onto a ball over the top of the away side’s back line and chipped the ball calmly over the Alvechurch stopper.
Alvechurch’s team was further reduced to nine when substitute Simon Chin was shown a second yellow card after 88 minutes.
There was still time for Harriers to grab a well-deserved third. Smith once again the scorer as he struck a first time shot across the keeper into the corner.
The young reds will travel to face Halesowen Town in the First Qualifying Round on or around 18th September.
