This Saturday saw six victories for our youth teams as the majority of them started the Junior Premier League Cup campaigns that will carry on over the next few weeks.
Having taken part in regionalised league fixtures over the past three weeks it was good for our teams to test themselves from teams further a field as the first round of cup games commenced for the majority of our teams.
It was a great start to the cup for our older age groups as they dominated results, no more so than the Under 15s who after a mixed start played some their best football of the campaign to secure a comorehensive victory against a good Hereford side.
Coach David Holdsworth spoke after the game saying “its great for the lads to come away having scored a number of goals and the majority of those being well worked as we have worked upon in training, the group certainly has to take this game as a massive confidence boost and kick on from this result as it certainly shows the potential that they have on offer when they all work hard together”.
Having not been defeated this season the Under 14s were again worthy winners against a strong Evesham side with goals coming from a number of the attacking threats in Mitchell, Betts and Crump with the later two having recently returned from injury.
The Under 16s under the watchful eye of Scott Mason turned their recent draws into a well earned victory as they outplayed Oxford City FC on a very good pitch. Strikers Ben Worhtington and Keatley Charles bagged the goals during the game but weren’t the only ones to gain credit as the oppositions coaching staff and parents all commented on the professional of our KHFC outfit.
The game of the weekend was certainly the Under 13s as they claimed a victory after a thrilling penalty shoot out having travelled down the M5 to Bristol. Goalkeeper Zach Hedge was the man of the moment as he not only saved a number of penalities but stepped up to take the first penalty and slot it into the top left hand corner.
