GIRLS and women should be encouraged to play the game and enjoy it, according to Kidderminster Harriers skipper, Amber Lawrence.
This week marks FA Girls’ Football Week, a national campaign designed to help raise profile of the women’s game.
Harriers have been doing their bit, thanks to an exclusive video feature that explores life within the ladies team.
Lawrence was among those taking part as he urged those interested in getting involved in the game to feel empowered to do so.
What was a marginalised and lesser-known facet of the game is now quite rightly just ‘football.’
“Do it if you enjoy it, don’t feel like it is something that’s going to have obstacles,” explained Amber, a former Aston Villa midfielder.
“A lot has changed in women’s football – it’s no longer seen as just ‘women’s’ football, it’s just ‘football.’
“Get involved and encourage others to do it – just enjoy it.”
