Report: Bartlett’s York hold Harriers

A point on the road for Harriers…

Ryan Croasdale

A MAN OF THE MATCH performance from former Aggborough man Adam Bartlett held Harriers to a 1-1 draw at York City.

Bartlett was in inspired form, pulling off a string of stops to keep John Eustace’s men at bay.

Harriers did net the opener through Ryan Croasdale, only for Jon Parkin’s fine strike to level matters.

The visitors were far the brighter side after the break but were not able to find a way through for a second goal.

As early as the third minute, Bartlett was thwarting his former employers – James Pearson the first to trouble him with a close-range shot, while Andre Brown and James McQuilkin followed suit.

The breakthrough came on 20  minutes as neat passing freed Croasdale who rifled into the bottom corner – almost repeating the trick seven minutes later only for Bartlett to keep the ball out.

York’s equaliser came with virtually their first real chance; a beauty of a distance free-kick from Parkin being expertly dispatched into the bottom corner.

The chances weren’t quite as free-flowing at the start of the second half but when they did arrive there were again from Harriers – Pearson again pushing forward and troubling Bartlett around the hour, before Croasdale freed Sonupe who, off the bench, raced into the area and fired a low shot that Bartlett blocked with his legs.

York failed to disturb Brandon Hall seriously all afternoon but the stopper showed some good hands at key times, while Fraser Horsfall also dug in with a fantastic late tackle to block to deny Morgan-Smith.
