DECLAN WEEKS was understandably happy with Harriers’ victory over FC United of Manchester on Tuesday night.
Goals from Ryan Croasdale; Joe Ironside, George Waring and Elton Ngwatala ensured victory against Tom Greaves’ side.
Following last Tuesday’s defeat against Stockport County in the Buildbase FA Trophy – Harriers first defeat since early November – Weeks highlighted the team’s desire to ensure they swiftly got back to winning ways.
“We were disappointed with the FA Trophy last week,” admitted Weeks.
“We were also gutted about the game getting called off on Saturday because we really wanted a reaction.
“….it’s up to us to break teams down, and that’s where we get our goals…” Declan Weeks
“We wanted to prove to people that [the defeat to Stockport] was just a one off, and I feel that we did that.”
The midfielder also outlined the importance of hard work and patience to break teams down over the course of the 90 minutes, which was displayed against FC United.
He commented: “We tend to go in 0-0 at half time a lot.
“But if we keep doing the right things the opposition will tire and gaps will start to open.
“That’s when we get our chances, so we have got to be clinical.
“It’s up to us to break the teams down, and that’s where we get our goals.
“We can mix it up, we can pass it through them, we can cross it as well.”
Harriers next match is at Aggborough on Saturday 27th January against Weeks’ former side, Southport.
