We continue our series looking back at 2017/18 End of Season award winners – today it’s the turn of the Away Supporters Player of the Year.

As Aggborough’s top marksman, it’s perhaps no surprise that Joe Ironside was among the award winners come the campaign’s conclusion.

The former Nuneaton Town player has enjoyed a fine term of it in front of goal. In 45 starts and three further substitute appearances, Ironside found the back of the net 23 times – or 24 if you include James Pearson’s second against Blyth back in the autumn. It was credited to the defender, but the hit man regularly claims it!

In any event, the record is impressive for the England C forward, who took his total Harriers tally to 29 goals in 56 appearances. Taking his 2017/18 stats further, Joe was also top of the pile for free-kicks won (58) and shots on target (58).

His tireless perofmances up and down the country away from home captured the eye of travelling Harriers fans in particular – Ironside scooped the Away Supporters’ Player of the Year award, despite just ten of his 23 (or 24!) goals this season coming on the road.

Joe was presented with his award (pictured above) at the final home league game of the term.
