The gaffer gives his thoughts on his second Aggborough match...

Neil MacFarlane was delighted with his team’s performance against Burton Albion at Aggborough on Tuesday night.

The League One outfit fielded a very experienced, strong side for their trip to Worcestershire, but it was Harriers who lead at half time thanks to a goal from Ed Williams.

The gaffer was full of praise for his team’s first half performance, in particular the contribution of goalscorer Williams.

“For the first 45 minutes, I thought that we were outstanding,” said MacFarlane.

“We scored a fantastic goal through Ed Williams, and that first half is a great template for what I want from my side.

“[Ed Williams] brings really good energy to the side, and it was a great finish.

“Some of our football was fantastic and we were aggressive with our passing, and that was probably the difference between the first half and the second half when we became a bit less aggressive with our passing”.

Burton got a goal back to level the match just three minutes after the restart, before The Brewers netted the winner on 88 minutes.

With the first league match now approaching rapidly, MacFarlane was pleased with the togetherness within his team.

“We’re over half way [through pre season] now, and the countdown [to the season] is on, so it’s all about forming that togetherness on the pitch, which you can see from the first half, that we’ve definitely got,” MacFarlane pointed out.

“If we can keep working hard on the training ground and bringing it to the match days, then I think we’ll be an exciting side”.
