DAN BRADLEY has stressed the importance of a strong start as Harriers usher in a new National League North season this weekend.

The reds travel to much-changed Alfreton Town this weekend looking to get off to the best start possible.

It won’t be easy against an experienced Town side, but Bradley admitted to our YouTube channel that the atmosphere in and around Aggborough this week has been fantastic.

The squad’s ready, he says, to get the ball rolling on 2018/19.

“I think everyone is buzzing around the place this week,” he said.

“It’s great to get pre-season out of the way – the friendlies are only friendlies at the end of the day… I think everyone is buzzing to get into the real, competitive stuff now.

“I know Alfreton would consider themselves to have spent quite  a bit of money in this pre-season and they’ll be looking, I presume, to be up there.

“It’s going to be a great start to what is, hopefully, a successful season for us.”

Nothing is won or lost on day one, but it goes without saying that each of the National League North’s 22 teams will be looking to get three points to start.

Not possible for everyone, of course. But Bradley added:  “We all want to get our teeth right into it and get a good start – I think that is important.

“You’ve seen in the past that teams have had such a good start that, although they’ve not done so well during the season, they’re still up there.

“It is really important we get off to a good start and get some points on the board.”
