Harriers record crucial win…

Harriers Ladies clinched a crucial victory on Sunday against current league leaders Sedgley and Gornal, netting once in each half to record a 2-0 victory.
The match taking place at COSE saw third placed Harriers take on the side that currently sit at the summit of the West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League.
Harriers started brightly and created a few chances early doors, but all efforts were off target.
However, mid way through the first half, Harriers found the target when a pin point corner from Kirsty Roberts found skipper Anne Johnson, who headed powerfully towards goal to force a very good save, but the rebound fell to Sophie Richards, who made no mistake and put into the back of the net.
Both teams had chances before half time, but both keepers kept the ball out to leave the score line at 1-0 going into the break.
Heading into the second half, Harriers doubled their lead thanks to a solo run by Amber Lawrence – beating several players and calmly slotting past the advancing keeper.
Harriers held on to confirm a vital victory which closes the gap at the top of the table.
Next up for Harriers Ladies is a trip to face Rugby Town on Sunday 3rd February.
