Russ calls for right response

Russ: There’s another game around the corner and we’ve got to go for three points.

Russ Penn

RUSS Penn knows Harriers must quickly rid their minds of the disappointment of Saturday’s Blyth draw with the trip to Ashton United fast approaching.

Harriers were left stunned at Croft Park, the 3-3 draw coming after the Reds had been 3-1 up with two minutes left of normal time.

The challenges don’t stop coming, though – the team are quickly back to action with the trip to an Ashton side who are on a high after winning at league leaders Chorley on Saturday.

Looking ahead, Russ reflected: “Every game is tough.

“On Monday it is full focus on Ashton and that is how we have to adapt to things.

“[Blyth was] bitterly disappointing, but there’s another game around the corner and we’ve got to go for three points.

“They’re fighting for their lives, but we are fighting for things also.

“We have to dust ourselves down, physically and mentally, and go there full of spirit.”
