HARRIERS ended their West Midlands Regional League season with a 6-2 win at Rugby Town.
The Reds had already secured the runners-up spot in the division, while also capturing the County and League Cup double.
They wanted to end on a win, though, and did so in style by comfortably seeing off Rugby.
Molly Maguire and Amie Savva had put Harriers in front before the break, before turning up the heat in the second period.
The Reds had numerous chances to extend their lead before they eventually did – Roberts sliding the ball through to Amber Lawrence who made no mistake in making it 3-0.
Harriers’ hopes of a 15th clean sheet of the season were dashed when Rugby pulled a goal back, making 3-1 after a corner had struck the post, with the re-bound being tidied away.
James Astle’s girls went 4-1 up through Beth Dutton’s header, before another corner saw the hosts pull a goal back and make it 4-2.
That would be the extent of their comeback, however – Harriers ensured that they got their rewards for generally controlling much of the game with two further goals; Amy Plimmer netting from a well-taken free-kick, before Sophie Richards ended the rout, the 149th goal of the team’s season.
Congratulations to everyone associated with the ladies for another triumphant season!
