Ladies net ten in County Cup

Ladies record emphatic victory…

Harriers started their defence of the Worcestershire Women’s County Cup in emphatic style on Sunday with a 10-0 victory.

Having claimed the silverware last season, the Ladies began this year’s campaign with a home tie against Redditch Borough.

The scoring was opened at Lea Castle inside the first minute as Amie Savva found the net, and the same player soon found the net again to double the lead.

Harriers displayed some impressive football throughout, and Sophie Richards struck the third, before Alex Nicklin and Amy Plimmer netted before half time to see the Ladies enter the interval at 5-0.

Manager James Astle made a number of changes for the second half, allowing all players to pick up vital minutes ahead of next Sunday’s league opener, and Harriers continued to find the net.

Katie Priest netted the sixth, before Bailey Raine-Hodge netted a brace in front of her sponsors, the Harriers of Norway, who were among the regular fans – enjoying their final match in Worcestershire before returning to Scandinavia.

Mia Badland and Kirsty Roberts netted goals nine and ten to round off the victory.

Next up for the Ladies is a big league opener against local rivals, Stourbrige – an away fixture.
