Ladies win against Droitwich Spa

Ladies continue winning record…

Ladies striker Danni Selmes

Harriers Ladies took on local rivals Droitwich Spa Ladies on Sunday, winning 7-0.

With three players missing from the starting line up against Leamington last week, and Droitwich limiting table toppers Stourbridge to a narrow 2-0 victory last time out, the Ladies knew they would need to maintain their high standards.

Fortunately, Harriers started brightly and were soon dominating possession, Bailey-Raine Hodge opened the Harriers account with a smart finish before top scorer Danni Selmes found the net.

Droitwich kept battling but were on the back foot for long periods, never really troubling Kirsty Roberts in the Harriers goal.

The Ladies made it three through Alex Nicklin, and then made it four before half time when Danni Selmes slotted home comfortably from the penalty spot.

Harriers found it harder to break down the resilient Droitwich side in the second half, but it was Danni Selmes again who scored her team’s fifth and sixth, taking her tally to nine goals in two games.

As the game drew to a close, Bailey-Raine Hodge hit her second of the afternoon to round off another three points.

Next up for the Ladies is a trip to Sedgley and Gornal United on Sunday 3rd November.
