Austin: I’m really excited!

Austin raring to go ahead of new season…

Sam Austin was pleased to finally get back out onto the pitch in a match scenario on Saturday as Harriers faced Bilston Town.

It was Austin and his teammates’ first outing of the 2020/21 pre-season campaign, with Harriers manager Russ Penn naming different XIs for each half, allowing his entire squad to get vital minutes into their legs.

The match ultimately ended in a 2-0 victory to Bilston, but Austin was well aware that there were plenty of positives to be taken.

“It was a good game and good to get 45 minutes in the tank, it’s been a long while since we’ve been on the pitch,” said Austin.

“It’s important to make sure that you know where your fitness is and that you know what you need to work on for the four weeks remaining in pre-season”.

Now into his fifth season at Aggborough, Austin has experienced plenty of change during his time so far, but is impressed and excited about how things are shaping up ahead of the new season.

“I’m really excited and really pleased with the players that have come in, the lads have great quality on the ball and are willing to work hard,” Austin added.

“It’s new players as well so you’ve got to start gelling together so that you know what your partner is going to do on the pitch.

“All the new signings have been great, good players have come in”.

Next up for Harriers is Alvechurch on Tuesday 8th September, a 7:45pm kick off at Lye Meadow.
