JIMMY O’CONNOR says it’s “fingers crossed” for Koby Arthur following his injury at Bilston on Saturday.

The former Birmingham City man, who re-signed for Harriers in the summer, came off injured in our maiden friendly.

Arthur was on the receiving end of an over-the-top challenge in the first half and was unable to continue.

He’s continuing to be assessed by staff, with O’Connor saying after Saturday’s game that they’ll take their time with the 24-year-old.

“The first signs were that the boy has come off and couldn’t continue, which isn’t great,” reflected the Aggborough No.2.

“We’ll keep our fingers crossed over the next 48 to 72 hours because Koby has come in from day one of pre-season and looked hungry, fit and sharp.

“He’s a player who we want a really good season from, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed and don’t want to say anything too early.”

On the nature of the challenge that caused the injury, O’Connor admitted to being disappointed but accepted there was little that could be done, adding: “It was one of them – it’s just football… we can’t do anything about the challenge now.”
