RUSS PENN has paid tribute to Brian Murdoch following the passing of the Aggborough stalwart this week.

Murdoch, the heart of the legendary match day food here at Aggborough – inclding the famous ‘Aggborough Soup’ – sadly died on Saturday, aged 81.

Tributes have flooded in from across the country following the news, with ‘RIP Brian’ Trending on Twitter during Monday.

Opposing clubs, rival fans and satisfied customers all paid their respects, while the local and national media also picked up on the news.

Harriers boss Penn had his own tribute to Brian, telling “This is a real shame, Brian was a Harriers legend – I don’t think there’s a single fan who has been to Aggborough in the last 50 years that hasn’t talked about his food!

“I’ll never forget the cold Tuesday nights as a player, looking at the North Stand terrace and seeing the fans tucking in and being a bit envious as you warmed up for a game in the rain!

“We’re all looking forward to the day fans can return to Aggborough, but it’s really sad to think Brian won’t be among them once things open back up again.

“I can only imagine what his family are going through just now and all our thoughts are with them – I hope they’re as touched as we are reading all the wonderful things people have been saying about him.

“He’ll be missed, that’s for sure.”
