RUSS Penn says Harriers will be just like everyone else in being hungry for a good run in the FA Cup this season.

Monday’s Cup draw pitted Harriers with a local trip to Sporting Khalsa in the Second Qualifying Round.

The tricky-looking tie will be a challenging start to what the boss is hoping will be a promising run in the competition.

He told that both teams will be treating it as a Cup Final.

“Everyone wants a good Cup run,” he said.

“I think it coincides with successful seasons, a Cup run keeps the competitive streak going and keeps the intensity there.

“We don’t class it as a ‘week off’ from the League, we just class it as the next game and we want to do well against whoever we play.

“At this time of year, in these qualifying rounds, it is a Cup final for everybody – including ourselves, so we’re no different.”

The fact the two teams are so close geographically will only add to the flavour of the occasion, with Penn adding: “It will be a tough afternoon, but it is local which is great.

“I know a bit about Sporting Khalsa anyway and we’ll do our homework on them as they will on us.

“It will be tough, and we’ll respect them big time.”

Further details on tickets and admission for the game, to be played on September 18, will follow in due course.
