AHEAD of our big FA Cup clash against Reading on Saturday, we’d again like to remind all supporters to enjoy the occasion responsibly.
We are, as ever, lucky enough to have one of the most passionate and loyal fanbases in the country, and we look forward to welcoming a capacity crowd to our Aggborough Stadium this weekend.
Earlier this season we noted a small handful of isolated incidents where the behaviour of a minority of individuals undermined our excellent reputation. We are pleased to say that through our excellent relationship with our local police, individuals were identified, and appropriate action has been taken.
Similarly, the majority of our supporters who attended our memorable FA Cup tie against FC Halifax got behind the team and supported the club superbly. We were aware of those who fell short in that standard and information about them has also been shared with the Police.
Unfortunately, due to the behaviour of fans, our Football Club has incurred additional policing and security costs for our next FA Cup game, these actions have largely contributed to the increase in match ticket prices.
With that in mind, we ask again that all fans remember that:
- It is a criminal offence to enter the playing field at any time during a match day. This includes the pitch itself, as well as any dugouts, technical areas and any other areas marked as a designated Red Zone. At the present time this naturally more important than ever to protect the safety of players, staff and supporters.
- The use of pyrotechnics within a football stadium is strictly prohibited and can seriously damage people’s health.
- The serving and consumption of alcohol is permitted in designated areas, and strictly not in view of the pitch. Please do not attempt to bring your own into the stadium as this is prohibited. We would ask supporters to only bring with them to the match essential items and to avoid large bags or rucksacks where possible. These may be searched on entry which could delay the arrival of fans into the ground.
The conduct of fans at ground is also covered by the National League/Football Association Ground Regulations, to which supporters give their agreement by entering stadiums.
Misconduct in relation to the above not only leaves individuals open to prosecution but can also lead to action being taken against a club. In short, don’t be the reason your club’s reputation or position in the FA Cup is put in jeopardy by crossing the line.
Our biggest and clearest message once again is one of thanks to 99% of our incredible supporters. We hope everyone associated with the club enjoys Saturday’s incredible occasion and continues to back the lads loudly and proudly.
