HARRIERS were held to a 1-1 draw to see out the New Year after being pegged back by Hereford at Aggborough

Amari Morgan-Smith had the first two chances of the afternoon, firing off target with eight minutes gone and, on 23 minutes, breaking the deadlock.

It was a predatory finish of sorts, the striker held back and timed a far post run to perfection to slot home a low cross after excellent work by Jack Bearne.

It was never an afternoon of chances flying here, there and everywhere, but Harriers did thump the woodwork before the break when Joe Leesley smashed an effort on the angle that goalkeeper Dino Visser did well to divert onto the upright.

Hereford were a brighter force after the break following Miles Storey’s introduction, and he had a chance on 48 minutes after a strong run and low chance that Tom Palmer saved.

Josh Gowling’s men were level on the hour mark. A sweeping delivery was met on the far side of the area by Levi Andoh who marked his Hereford return with a goal. His effort may not have been cleanly hit but it got the ideal result, bouncing into the turf and up beyond the reach of Palmer.

Where clear-cut openings were concerned, the two goals represented pretty much the sum total of the day’s action, but there was never any let-up in a rather frenetic finale as both sides chased to attack.
