IN-FORM Amari Morgan-Smith bagged two goals as Harriers eased to a deserved 3-1 win over Blyth Spartans at Aggborough.

Morgan-Smith has really found his groove over the last few week and took his season’s tally to six with this double against Spartans in front of another 2,000+ crowd.

Harriers were in control of the game more or less from start to finish and should’ve been further ahead by the time Morgan-Smith opened the scoring with 34 played. After Jack Bearne had forced a good save from Alex Mitchell with a low shot three minutes prior, his team mate found the net with a close range finish to tuck away an Ashley Hemmings cross.

Five minutes later Morgan-Smith fired over as he powered towards goal again, Blyth then restoring parity against the run of play as Matt Dopson’s excellent finish flew past Tom Palmer in the Harriers goal.

It took just eight minutes of the second half for Morgan-Smith to have Harriers back in front. This time the delivery came from Shane Byrne, the ball bouncing almost on to the boot of Morgan-Smith who swept home his second of the night.

The result never looked in doubt at that stage and, three minutes later, Tom Owen-Evans all but made sure if it, racing through on goal and shooting with an effort that Mitchell got a hand to but couldn’t prevent hitting the net – Owen-Evans getting his first Harriers goal.

Tom Palmer made his best save of the night on 73 minutes as he clawed out a Dan Barlow effort, Harriers keeping the pressure on in the minutes that followed when sub Joe McGlynn kept the ball well and shot – Mitchell making a good save.

Hemmings almost got in on the act with seven left to play but his free kick – hit with venom – blazed over.
