Saturday: Scarborough (H)

A look ahead to Saturday’s game against Scarborough at Aggborough…

RUSS Penn looks forward to welcoming Scarborough to Aggborough on Saturday and insists his team are ‘in a different place’ to the side who were beaten 4-2 in November’s reverse fixture.

The Seadogs, promoted through the play-offs last season, have adjusted to life in National League North with apparent ease.

They sit in the play-offs at present, thanks in no small part to the whopping 51 goals they’ve scored in their 29 games thus far.

Four of those were at the expense of Harriers, who went down to a 4-2 defeat the Flamingo Land Stadium late last year.

It was a thrilling enough encounter, but Penn insists Harriers have improved in the months since.

Looking ahead to the game, he said: “They’re a very entertaining team and I know the Manager Jonathan Greening really well.

“We keep in touch all the time and I’ll welcome him and his boys to the club on Saturday and we’re looking forward to an entertaining game.

“They beat us 4-2 up at their place. It was a great game up until half time and then they went in a different direction to us – but we were in a different place to where we are now.

“We have got to be mindful – they have scored the most goals in the league this season. But they’ve conceded a few as well, that’s just the way they play and we’ve got to be ready for it.”

Harriers’ own recent form has seen them pushed up the table slightly and to within a stones’  throw of Saturday’s visitors.

Penn is adamant his side must continue their form, adding: “We knew we had to put a run together, but it can’t stop now. This is just the start, I hope.

“What it has done has built a bit more confidence around the group and the club, which always helps.”

The boss said Caleb Richards is unlikely to be fit enough to feature on Saturday but is making progress from his recent knee injury – but Zak Brown is closer to contention and, it was hoped, would join in some training at the end of this week.

Joe Leesley and Joe Foulkes are the other absentees with knee issues.

New signing, Kyle Morrison, is available for a Harriers debut.

Kick-off at Aggborough on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
