A look ahead to Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup tie…

RUSS Penn wants Harriers to summon the energies of their 2022 Emirates FA Cup run when they face Fleetwood Town on Sunday in the First Round.
Memories are still fresh for many Reds players and supporters of the epic jaunt to the Fourth Round – and seconds away from reaching the Fifth.
This week has provided the opportunity to remember some of what took the team to that stage – even if it was a run that started two rounds prior.
With promotion to the National League going into this season, Harriers began their FA Cup journey at the Fourth Qualifying stage.
So while they’ve reached this meeting with the League 1 outfit more quickly than they did the corresponding game against Grimsby in 2021-22, Penn wants to feel a similar energy at Aggborough.
Looking ahead, he said: “You’re 90 minutes away from a big upset on Sunday and that’s how you’ve got to look at things.
“You can take the pressures away from the league, that will deal with itself going into Aldershot [next week].
“It has got a different feel to it this year because we haven’t won four games [to get here] but, in a way, that’s the reward of getting promoted last year.
“All the big clubs in non-league deserve to be here because they’re playing higher than anybody else.
“So it feels a bit different that we’re playing Fleetwood within one game, but I am expecting a good crowd on Sunday.
“The cameras are all there, it’s going to be bouncing and we’re looking to upset the pack.”
Fleetwood travel to DY10 with recently-installed boss Lee Johnson making his mark on things.
He’s arrested their form with some strong results in recent weeks, and Penn was on hand to watch their thrilling 3-3 local derby draw against Blackpool in midweek.
“It was a fantastic game against Blackpool, a real good, local derby and a good atmosphere.
“We’ve got to make it a bit like that on Sunday.
“Do I think we can win the game in a one-off event? Yes, I do, and we’ll be looking to do that on Sunday.”
Harriers were able to welcome back Jack Lambert to training, but the former Darlington man isn’t likely to feature this weekend.
Shane Byrne has begun some running work and continues to progress with his knee injury.
Joe Leesley (back) is the only other confirmed injury absentee, while Reiss McNally is suspended following his red card against Chesterfield.
Sunday’s clash is a first meeting between Harriers and Fleetwood since 2012, and just the seventh overall.
The two sides collided in the FA Cup in 2009 when Fleetwood, then a level below Harriers, were victors after a replay win at Highbury.
Don’t forget, kick off at Aggborough on Sunday is at 2:00pm.
