HARRIERS and Buxton will have to meet again at Aggborough on Tuesday night after a 1-1 draw at Silverlands on Saturday.
The visitors bossed much of the tie on the day and, either side of a concerted spell for the hosts in which they scored, were in control of the affair.
Perhaps the only frustration for boss Phil Brown will be that there weren’t more clear-cut chances created in the first half, Harriers only really having a deflected Jack Lambert shot and a header from Harry Ibbiston, held by True Grant, to show for their efforts.
Ibbitson did also show good pace to get himself through one-on-one with Grant, but the shot stopper did well to race out and boot the ball clear before the striker could pounce.
Two minutes before the break, Buxton thought they’d taken the lead as Ben Sault appeared to show good composure in keeping the ball before slotting it beyond Dibble, only for the referee to chalk off the effort having spotted a handball.
Jack Lambert twice went close after the restart for Harriers, but Buxton snatched themselves the lead five past the hour. Christian Dibble had made a superb one-handed save to keep out a free, far post header, but was helpless as the Bucks converged on the rebound to force the ball home.
Thankfully for the Reds, the lead proved short lived as, within four minutes, the visitors were level. Joe Foulkes and Maz Kouhyar combined, the latter crossing to Ibbitson who, six yards out, turned with real skill to tuck the ball into the bottom corner.
From there it was Harriers who pushed hardest for a winner. Ibbitson struck what was arguably a sweeter finish nine minutes later, but watched as the ball whistled wide of the post.
Amari Morgan-Smith, on as a sub, then had two sights of his own, seeing one header saved by Grant two minutes from time before nodding onto the post having risen superbly to meet Kouhyar’s cross with just seconds remaining.
