Tuesday: Harriers v Bucks

A look ahead to Tuesday night’s FA Cup action at Aggborough…

PHIL Brown wants his Harriers side to make the most of the opportunity to reach the next round of the FA Cup when they take on Buxton at Aggborough on Tuesday night.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Silverlands on Saturday to set up a replay in the Third Qualifying Round.

Monday’s draw for the fourth qualifying stage paired the winner of the midweek contest with Northern Premier play-off chasers Guiseley, the incentive of a home tie awaiting the victor.

Speaking ahead of the game, the second of what will be at least four meetings with The Bucks over the course of this season, the Harriers chief knew his team’s FA Cup fate rested firmly in their own hands.

He explained: “I would liked to have got it done in one game, but that’s not the case, and we’ve now got to play Buxton for a second time, so it’ll be a total of four all season.

“We’ll find out more about Buxton [prior to kick off] but hopefully we’ll have enough to get past them to take on the challenge of Guiseley.

“If we put our best foot forward, we’ve now got two home ties to try and get into the First Round proper, so the challenge is still clearly in our hands.

“That’s the beauty of a Cup competition and I thought we showed enough on Saturday that, if we do put our best foot forward on Tuesday night, we’ll have an opportunity to win a game of football.”

Kick-off at Aggborough on Tuesday night is at 7:45pm, with extra time and penalties to follow 90 minutes in the event of a tie.
