A look ahead to Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Guiseley at Aggborough….

HARRIERS host Northern Premier League outfit Guiseley in a key Emirates FA Cup tie on Saturday.
The Lions are flying high in their division, with just one league defeat since August and wins aplenty seeing them comfortably in the play-off positions.
Boosting that has been a strong FA Cup run so far. They began in the First Qualifying Round, and saw off Ashton United and 1874 Northwich to make it through to the third qualifying stage.
At that point they drew National League North leaders Scunthorpe United and, thanks to arguably the performance of the round, dispatched of the Iron courtesy of an excellent 1-0 win.
Harriers boss Phil Brown remarked: “We’ve got some serious business to be done. It’s not by any stretch of the imagination a walkover.
“Guiseley have already shown that, if they bring their A Game to the table, they can beat the team at the top of the division we’re playing in.
“So they’re no mugs, they’re no walkover and we’ve got to be prepared for and understand what’s coming out of their changing room and, more importantly, what’s coming out of our changing room.”
Guiseley are fighting hard to return to the National League North following relegation in 2022.
Their last trip to Aggborough came that year when Harriers were 3-0 league winners, one of three wins for the Reds in the eight meetings between these two sides to-date.
The first came way back in 2007 when, in an FA Trophy match, Russ Penn and Johnny Harkness netted in a 2-1 success at Nethermoor Park.
Saturday will be the first FA Cup meeting between the two outfits, who shared one National League season together in 2015-16.
Brown has confirmed that defender Alex Penny is a strong candidate to return to the Harriers squad after a recent injury, a strong week’s training under the defender’s belt this week.
Luke Summerfield and Ben Beresford are longer-term absentees, while Paul Downing is still said to be a couple of weeks away from the prospect of a return to the training field.
We’re delighted that Summerfield will be at Aggborough for Saturday’s game.
Luke will make pre-match presentations to Zak Brown and Ashley Hemmings for their recent appearance milestones.
Kick off at Aggborough on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
