ASHLEY Hemmings was again the hat-trick hero for Harriers as they picked up a comfortable 3-0 win over Curzon Ashton at Aggborough.

Hemmings 30th, 31st and 32nd goals of the campaign helped seal an important and one-sided victory in DY10 as Harriers put away another promotion contender in front of a busy and vocal crowd.

The first of those goals took just 48 seconds to arrive – Hemmings getting on to the end of a driven Reece Devine cross with a superb finish across goal and into the far corner.

Amari Morgan-Smith was tireless in front of goal once again and gave Jones an almighty scare on four minutes when he chased down his clearance, later firing firmly over the target with a venomous shot that whistled over the bar.

Hemmings saw a shot skew well wide on 36 as the half drew to a quieter close, the top marksman almost turning provider for David Davis in the early reaches of the second period, the midfielder’s shot rolling wide of the far post.

The Harriers No.10 was never far from the action in the end and, 62 minutes, he had his second of the day in typical style; taking the ball in his stride and in space, 30 yards out, before driving towards Jones, the effort swerving past his diving hand and into the net.

Maz Kouhyar almost had an immediate third for Harriers but saw his effort held by Jones, before an effort against the run of play saw Luis Lacey hit the post on the angle at the other end, shooting from ten yards out.

With just over a quarter-hour left, Morgan-Smith went within inches of getting the goal his performance deserve, rising highest in the area to meet Kouhyar’s cross, but diverting his cross agonisingly off target.

Curzon then asked questions of Dibble when Buckley-Ricketts’ header needed saving but, two minutes later, the pressure was back on with Joe Foulkes on the ball in the area and fouled. After much discussion, it was Hemmings, given the ball by Morgan-Smith, who stepped up to slot the ball beyond Jones.
